Description
A compact, dwarf variety of this well know hardy perennial, with the same glowing, mauve blooms, but reaching just half the height! Verbena bonariensis ‘Royal Dreams’ is far more versatile than its relatives, making a great addition to mixed patio containers, or mingling with summer perennials at the front of borders. Why not plant it in a wildlife area where its nectar-rich flowers will attract pollinating insects from far and wide. Height and spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow
Pot up Verbena bonariensis plants and grow them on in frost free conditions, for transplanting into borders later on. When all risk of frost has passed and plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant outdoors in a sheltered position in any moist, well drained soil in full sun.
More Info
Feed and water plants regularly until they are fully established. Verbena flowers do not require dead heading. In autumn, apply a dry mulch of bark chips or straw to protect the crown of the plant throughout the winter months. Cut back the old stems when new shoots emerge at the base of the plant in spring.
