Description
Firethorn 'Orange Glow' is a tough but easy to grow shrub that has the reputation of being a good security feature for the home as the plant has an abundance of sharp thorns that would deter anyone from trying to climb over or push through it. Pyracantha can be trained against a wall or grown as a hedge, and is very easy to clip and maintain but don't forget to wear thick garden gloves of course. The shrub has soft sprays of white flowers during June and July which form glowing orange berries as winter approaches so you can expect visits from wildlife as they take advantage of the colourful outdoor larder. Height and spread: 3m (10').

How to Grow
Grow Pyracantha plants as free standing shrubs or trained against a walls and fences. Plant Pyracantha in any well drained, reliably moist soil in sun or semi shade. Choose a position with shelter from cold, drying winds.
More Info
Feed and water Pyracantha plants regularly until full established. Prune free standing shrubs in early spring, removing damaged and poorly positioned shoots. For wall trained shrubs, tie in main shoots to form part of the permanent framework, and cut back unwanted shoots to the main stem. After flowering in summer, shorten the remaining stems to 3 leaves from the base, in order to expose the developing berries. Remove any old fruit trusses in spring to make room for new growth.Caution: harmful if eaten
