Description
Originating in India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Madagascar, the stunning Crossandra is hugely popular and is used in numerous rituals and traditions. Thanks to the vivid colouring of the flowers and the fact that they remain so fresh for so long, blooms are used to decorate the hair and as symbols of prosperity. The plant owes its ‘fortunate’ name to its abundant growth as well as to the strikingly beautiful sheen of the leaves. And the quantity of flowers that this plant produces is truly impressive!

How to Grow
Crossandra plants require a moist, well drained soil that is ricjh in organic matter. Position Crossandra on a bright windowsill away from cold draughts and radiators, with a constant temperature above 15C (59F).
More Info
Water Crossandra plants frequently to maintain evenly moist compost. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. During the warmest summer months, Crossandra can be moved to a sheltered, sunny spot on the patio, with some protection from the sun during the hottest parts of the day. Return it to a warm position indoors at the end of summer.
