Description
Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' is a beautiful variety of Bugle with violet blue flower-spikes, appearing from late spring. Ideal groundcover, this dark leaved perennial has a dense matt of glossy, liquorice-black foliage and is more sun tolerant than many cultivars, with the foliage becoming blackest when grown in full sun. Bugle is also a robust and reliable evergreen that copes with almost any soil condition. Particularly effective at the front of the border, rockeries or wildlife gardens where it will attract pollinating bees and insects. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 60cm (24").

1 x 1 litre potted ajuga plant (KA4587)

How to Grow
Grow Bugle plants into any moist, well-drained soil. Plants will perform best in partial shade, as full sun can cause leaf scorch. Ajuga will even tolerate poor soils in full shade. Makes excellent ground cover for shady corners.
More Info
Ajuga plants are virtually maintenance-free, and do not required any pruning. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps every three years to maintain their vigour.
